H-E-B Creates Chief Digital Officer Role To Oversee E-Commerce Expansion

H-E-B has appointed Jag Bath to the newly created position of Chief Digital Officer. He will oversee all of the grocery retailer’s digital products and services as the company expands its omnichannel offerings across Texas.

Bath will remain CEO of Favor Delivery, the on-demand delivery service that is wholly owned by H-E-B. The retailer’s other omnichannel offerings include H-E-Btoyou Delivery and H-E-B Curbside, which is available at over 100 stores now and is projected to reach 200 locations in 2018. H-E-B also offers delivery through Shipt, delivering products to 48 states and military bases worldwide through its combined services.

“Jag is a leading national figure in the digital space and this appointment reflects the central importance of building out H-E-B’s omnichannel service to meet customers’ evolving needs and expectations,” said Martin Otto, COO of H-E-B. “Our primary goal is to enable our customers to shop, pay for and receive their products in whatever way they choose – all while delivering an exceptional customer experience.”

The retailer is expanding its physical logistics as well, investing at least $130 million in a new San Antonio warehouse slated to open in 2020, according to San Antonio Express-News. The one million-square-foot facility marks the retailer’s largest manufacturing and supply chain division investment to-date.
