Amazon is taking its Lens visual search to the next level with the debut of Lens Live, which will automatically scan items pictured on websites and social media feeds to produce real-time product matches on Amazon.com. Amazon’s AI shopping assistant Rufus is directly integrated into the Lens Live experience, offering shoppers easy access to product insights, summaries and answers to their questions.
Lens Live has already been made available to tens of millions of customers in the Amazon Shopping app on iOS and will roll out to more customers in the coming weeks.

Here’s how it works: When customers with Lens Live open Amazon Lens in the Amazon app, the Lens camera will instantly begin scanning products and show top-matching items in a swipeable carousel at the bottom of the screen. Customers also now have the ability to tap an item in the camera view to focus in on a specific product, add items directly to their cart by tapping the + icon, and save items to their Amazon wish lists by tapping the heart icon, all without leaving the camera view.
With the Rufus integration, customers now also will see suggested questions and quick summaries of what makes a product stand out under the product carousel, allowing shoppers to perform speedy research in the same experience.
Customers can still use traditional Lens options — taking a picture, uploading an image or scanning a barcode — if they prefer.
