Armed with mobile technology, such as smartphones or tablets, store associates can educate shoppers more thoroughly about products and complete transactions from anywhere in a store, creating a richer and more memorable browsing and buying experience.
Celerant Technology, a provider of multichannel and mobile retail software, has partnered with Motion Computing, a global provider of tablet PCs to introduce the Celerant Command Retail POS software solution on the Motion SlateMate tablet device, which is equipped with a mag stripe reader and barcode scanner.
The Celerant mPOS solution was designed to empower retailers to complete sales transactions from anywhere within a brick-and-mortar location. Using the Motion SlateMate and Command Retail application, store associates can scan products, process credit cards and wirelessly print and/or email receipts. With this new tool, store employees can increase purchases and improve line-busting strategies to decrease traffic at checkout counters.

“Retailers of all sizes can benefit from the Celerant Mobile POS solution, whether it is a smaller retailer administering sidewalk sales, or a larger retailer striving to improve line-busting or create more personalized in-aisle sale experiences,” said Ian Goldman, President and CEO of Celerant Technology Corp. “We want to provide merchants with a mobile solution that allows them to manage their businesses without having [their associates] remain in front of the registers.” While the solution currently is available only for the SlateMate, Goldman reported that Celerant plans to partner with a broader selection of mobile device providers in the near future.
