Bali Raghaven, Director of Amazon’s “walk out” technology within Amazon Go stores, the retailer’s completely checkout-free grocery market, has left for a Vice President of Engineering position at the real estate startup Opendoor.
Amazon has faced some hiccups following the exciting announcement of its Amazon Go stores. The opening of these futuristic markets was recently delayed due to technical problems. According to reports, there is no set launch date for the store to open to the public.
According to Raghaven’s LinkedIn profile, he was responsible for “spearheading the computer vision, sensor fusion, artificial intelligence, machine learning and distributed systems that automatically detect when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a customer’s virtual cart.”

The first Amazon Go store is located in Seattle, but is only open to Amazon employees for beta testing.
According to Recode, Raghaven’s move is not related to the technical issues of the Amazon Go technology. He will relocate to Silicon Valley for his new role at Opendoor.
