Walmart Debuts Self-Service Module for Delivering Digital Shopper Insights

Walmart Data Ventures has introduced Digital Landscapes, a self-service module designed to reveal insights into the digital behaviors of Walmart shoppers online — particularly those behaviors that precede the consumer’s point of decision.

With the new tool, suppliers can glean insights including:

  • Where shoppers start their journey to find products;
  • When they find a supplier’s products;
  • How a supplier’s product compares to others in the category; and
  • What a shopper’s path to purchase looks like.

Mark Hardy, Head of Walmart Data Ventures, discussed the Walmart Luminate suite of digital insights tools in January 2024. In comments shared with Retail TouchPoints for this article, Hardy said: “In recent years, omnichannel customer expectations have changed around price, assortment and experience. Walmart Data Ventures recognized an opportunity to deliver even more value for suppliers with Walmart Luminate Digital Landscapes. Until now, suppliers were able to make decisions based on insights gathered after a purchase had been made. Now, with the ability to track online shopper behavior before a purchase, suppliers can explore new retail strategies to engage and drive consideration along the customer journey, ultimately leading to a better shopping experience for customers.”
