The Vitamin Shoppe has partnered with GroupBy, a relevancy-focused e-Commerce solution provider, to enhance its product data and search options at vitaminshoppe.com. In addition to making site searches more accurate, the improvements also will provide benefits for shoppers looking to make a purchase at a physical location.
“The biggest advantage our web site offers is that we are open 24/7, enabling customers to research products and read our expert health and wellness content when a store Health Enthusiast [associate] isn’t available,” said Sam Norpel, General Manager, Digital Commerce at The Vitamin Shoppe in an interview with Retail TouchPoints. “Due to the rise of mobile, we see a significant amount of traffic for customers that engage with us digitally — through search for example — and then visit us in our stores.”
The Vitamin Shoppe will integrate GroupBy’s machine learning capabilities to provide smarter, more accurate results from searches on its web site. The algorithm’s ability to take into account the overall site’s browse and purchase behavior along with each individual customer’s behavior will help shoppers find what they’re searching for more quickly.
“Our goal is to provide our customers with the solutions they need, when they need it,” said Norpel. “By improving our search capabilities, we are able to better service our customers and help them navigate our robust product offerings and content. The enhancements we’ve made thus far ensure our customers are finding exactly what it is they are looking for faster than ever before, making for a better, more convenient shopping experience.”
The retailer has made several other improvements to its site this year, including updated navigation, an increased on-site search box presence, new store locator pages and updated product listing and detail pages. The Vitamin Shoppe also has added a “Shop by Solutions” feature, and integrated its blog and What’s Good by V to provide additional editorial content.
