Seeking to overcome the “compliment deficit” suffered by one in four people (those unlucky souls who have not received a “nice outfit!” remark during the past 30 days), Stitch Fix is launching a limited-time Compliment Guarantee. Timed to kick off on National Compliments Day, Jan. 24, and running through March 1, Stitch Fix is promising that customers will get a compliment on their outfit within 30 days of their Stitch Fix delivery, or the customer’s next “Fix” is free.
“85% of clients agree that Stitch Fix helps them dress with more confidence,” said Debbie Woloshin, Chief Marketing Officer at Stitch Fix in a blog post, noting that recent research found that nearly half (49%) of people say getting an outfit compliment gives their confidence a boost.
Other research data revealed the connections between style and confidence:
- 70% of people say they second-guess their outfit before leaving the house, with 45% second-guessing once a week or more;
- More than 65% of people say receiving a real-life compliment delivers a bigger confidence boost than a “like” or comment on social media;
- 60% of people say receiving a compliment inspires them to pass one on, helping alleviate the compliment deficit; and
- 46% say compliments on their outfit make them feel more motivated and productive at work.
Stitch Fix is expressing confidence that its outfits will indeed inspire compliments, but people who remain compliment-free for a month can email compliments@stitchfix.com with the subject line “Compliments Guaranteed.”
