Schnucks has deployed the Fresh Item Management Solutions from Logile across its 114 supermarkets as it seeks to refine production forecasting and inventory management with a more data-driven, automated approach. The solutions also standardize recipe management and automate compliance tracking to help ensure streamlined operations and consistent execution.

Key solutions being used by Schnucks include:

  • AI and machine learning-based fresh production and ingredient forecasting tools that predict demand by analyzing historical data, seasonality, weather, events and market trends, continuously learning and adapting to optimize inventory management, minimize stockouts and reduce excess inventory;
  • Production planning that offers role-based visibility into sales and production forecasts, utilizing item movement data and on-hand inventory to determine optimal production levels, timings and quantities;
  • Recipe and nutrition management: The system digitizes recipes and integrates with Food Data Central for precise nutritional labeling. The tool stores all recipe components, helping ensure compliance with FDA regulations and providing real-time updates for allergens and nutritional content;
  • Grind management to automate grind tracking for deli and meat departments and integrating it with task management to ensure compliance with USDA regulations. By capturing supplier details, lot numbers and production dates via barcode scanning, the solution streamlines store-level record-keeping; and
  • Yield management solutions track the breakdown of raw items into sellable cuts, accounting for trimming loss and bone removal to help maintain yield percentages.

“Digitizing these key processes and seamlessly integrating them into our daily operations has made a profound difference,” said Kim Anderson, VP of Store Operations Support at Schnucks in a statement. “We can now make smarter, more informed decisions, offering our customers fresh food at its peak flavor and freshness while reducing waste and ensuring consistent availability of high-quality products.”

Schnucks rolled out the Carrot Tags pick-to-light functionality from Instacart in July 2024, and in April 2025 Schnucks added DoorDash to its delivery portfolio and enabled SNAP/EBT payments on its DoorDash Marketplace.
