As retailers become more comfortable with cloud-based tools, they are deploying the technology more aggressively to run front end and other operational areas of their stores.
More than 25 retail brands have implemented the KWI Cloud 9 Mobile POS solution across 500-plus stores since the tool was released by KWI in 2011. Nearly $100 million in sales and more than 1.4 million transactions have been processed by the cloud-based POS system, according to KWI officials, including 6,000 a day during December.
Highlights of the new KWI cloud-based POS technology on mobile includes plug and play deployment, inventory and receiving, item lookup, scan and payment processes, electronic signatures and email receipts, customer relationship management, real-time data, and reporting, according to a company press release.

Edwin Pearl, a national chain of high-end jewelry stores, used KWI Cloud 9 Mobile POS to help run its holiday 2012 pop-up store.
“We needed a mobile POS solution that could be delivered rapidly and efficiently without the cost and time required of managing this type of cutting-edge technology in-house,” said Peter Indiveri, Executive VP of Operations and CFO of Edwin Pearl. KWI Cloud 9 Mobile POS “integrated very easily with our existing POS software, and we were able to implement the mobile POS quickly and successfully.”
