Marks & Spencer (M&S) has kicked off its first international wholesale partnership in the fashion category with Australian premium department store David Jones, which will now offer a selection of Marks & Spencer womenswear, menswear and lingerie online and in its 24 stores, including its Sydney and Melbourne flagship locations.

The new M&S partnership follows a successful one earlier this year with Target, which began carrying M&S Food’s Percy Pig candies.

“Last year we reset our priorities for international, with a focus on offering the magic of M&S to customers across the world,” said Mark Lemming, Managing Director of International at M&S in a statement. “With consistent growth in food, fashion, home and beauty and strong brand momentum as the UK’s most trusted retailer, there is now so much opportunity for us to grow our business globally. We’re taking our first steps in Australia; it’s a market which has always shared longstanding and strong links with the UK and where brand recognition is high.”

M&S, which has been seeking to provide stronger foundations for international growth, beefed up its global leadership team in February with three senior appointments, including a new International Partnerships Director, Commercial Director and Managing Director of M&S India.
