‘Love Luggage’ Event Combines Creativity and Charity

Unclaimed Baggage, which sells luggage that airlines haven’t been able to reunite with its original owners, will host a “Love Luggage” event in its Scottsboro, Ala. store on Feb. 11. Customers will be invited to hand-paint suitcases with “works of heart” destined for children moving to new foster homes.

“Throughout the year, Unclaimed Baggage takes suitcases to schools, charities, social and business groups to be hand-painted for children moving to new foster homes,” said Jennifer Kritner, VP of Retail and Company Culture at Unclaimed Baggage in a statement. “The painted luggage is donated to foster care agencies and replaces the garbage bags many children typically use to transport their belongings.”

The in-store event is part of the retailer’s “Bling Week,” taking place Feb. 6-14 with special activities and offers including:

  • An expanded selection of fine and fashion jewelry;
  • Curated gift ideas for Valentine’s Day (handbags, shoes, gifts and accessories);
  • 25% off winter clearance items; and
  • Family-friendly games and Valentine’s Day-themed fun (in-store only).

“A core value at Unclaimed Baggage is to redeem the lost and reclaim the rejected,” said Kritner. “Above shopping and socializing during ‘Bling Week,’ we invite guests to participate in blessing foster children this Valentine’s season.”
