JCPenney is partnering with the celebrity designer dubbed the “King of Pop-Rock Couture” for its first-ever prom collection: JCProm with Johnny Wujek. The limited-time collection, priced from $59 to $250, includes dresses, separates and fashion suits with clever details that allow for dramatic quick changes to the looks. The 22 statement pieces, available online and in select stores, include gowns with removable straps and reversible skirts as well as suits and jackets with zip-off tails.

“Growing up as a kid in the Midwest, JCPenney was my first big department store — from shopping there for special occasions to having family members work there, it’s part of my fashion journey,” said Wujek, who has designed for A-list celebrities including Ariana Grande, Zac Efron and Katy Perry, in a statement. “When I was in high school, prom night felt like the Oscars or Grammys — what you wore was special and a way to express yourself, which is why I’m so honored to create a bold and disruptive collection with JCPenney.”

As part of the collection’s release, JCPenney is donating $250,000 to deserving high schools around the U.S. to help them throw an unforgettable prom night. A select number of prom-goers at each chosen school will be eligible for free styling services at their local JCPenney Salon on the day of their prom.

Making Fashion Accessible

The new collection is part of JCPenney’s commitment to making fashion more accessible at affordable prices, following its limited-time Stylus X LaDarius Campbell menswear line that debuted in January 2024. This commitment is central to JCPenney’s “Make it Count” turnaround plans, which executives unveiled in September 2023.

“We’re thrilled to offer another standout collaboration that is both affordable and fashionable with an audience who is looking for both without compromise,” said Michelle Wlazlo, Chief Merchandising Officer at JCPenney in a statement. “It’s a privilege to work with Johnny to bring prom to life at a great value for teens. This is a make it count moment they will remember forever and we’re eager to see how they express their unique style and personality through their fashion choices.”
