Daily deal company Groupon has acquired social gifting company Boomerang in an effort to expand its variety of products and services for consumers.
As a result of the deal, Boomerang will fold into the Groupon web site as “Groupon Freebies,” which will provide users with promo codes, free offers and coupons from their favorite stores.
“We are excited to announce that Boomerang has been acquired by Groupon,” said Zachary Smith, Co-Founder and CEO of Boomerang, in a blog post announcing the acquisition news. “We’re grateful to the millions of people who used Boomerang to give and receive gifts and rewards, and we look forward to serving you at Groupon Freebies with ways to save any time you shop.”
