DICK’S Sporting Goods is opening two new discount-focused store concepts: OVERTIME by DICK’S Sporting Goods and DICK’S Sporting Goods Warehouse. DICK’s will open eight stores carrying the two new banners, giving the retailer a total of 11 outlet and clearance centers across nine states.
OVERTIME by DICK’S Sporting Goods locations will offer an assortment of apparel, footwear and equipment at up to 75% off. The location will stock brands including Nike, Adidas and Under Armour, with additional markdowns added throughout the year to keep inventory fresh. The first three OVERTIME stores will open in Connecticut, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The five DICK’S Sporting Goods Warehouse stores will feature discounts of up to 90% on footwear and apparel. These stores are designed to offer a pop-up style experience, with the first wave operating in Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin for six months.
The new discount stores are in addition to three clearance centers opened last year in in Utica, Mich., Spartanburg, S.C. and Racine, Wis. Adding these locations could help DICK’S sell through excess merchandise: same-store sales dropped 29.5% in Q1 2020 due to store closures, though e-Commerce sales rose 110% during that period.
