Chef’d And Innit Launch Customizable Meal Kits

Chef’dChef’d will now offer customizable meal kits through the Innit app. Shoppers can order the exact ingredients they want and receive personalized instructions in-app, merging the journey from meal planning to preparation on one platform.

Once the ingredients in a meal are selected, shoppers can choose the date when Chef’d will deliver their purchase. The preparation process is simplified by “Culinary GPS” video guidance on the Innit app, which sequences steps so that every part of the meal is finished at the same time.

“The additional value Innit provides to the everyday eating ritual, from personalized nutrition to appliance connectivity, is a significant benefit to our customers and partners,” said Kyle Ransford, CEO of Chef’d in a statement. “Pairing Innit’s eating technology with our best-in class direct to consumer fresh ingredient fulfillment brings capabilities to home cooks that were never before possible.”

Chef’d isn’t the only meal kit company expanding its offerings: HelloFresh acquired Green Chef, a meal kit company geared toward vegan, gluten-free and Paleo diet consumers, in March. Physical retailers are increasing the range of their offerings as well, with Walmart expanding its meal kits from 250 to 2,000 stores, and Kroger testing new recipes for its Prep + Pared Meal Kits at its recently opened Culinary Innovation Center.
