Canada Goose Cuts 17% of Corporate Workforce in Search of Long-Term Growth

As part of its ongoing transformation program, Canada Goose has cut approximately 17% of its corporate jobs, a move that the retailer anticipates will yield immediate cost savings, a simpler organizational structure and accelerated decision-making.

“Today, we are realigning our teams to ensure that corporate resources are fit for purpose to fuel our next phase of growth across geographies, categories and channels,” said Dani Reiss, Chairman and CEO of Canada Goose in a statement. “We are focused on achieving efficiency and margin expansion, while investing in key initiatives — brand, design and best-in-class operations — that will powerfully position our iconic performance luxury brand to deliver long-term growth.”

The retailer also has changed its management structure, consolidating responsibilities among its top executives:

  • Carrie Baker, President, Brand and Commercial, will expand her role to oversee Design and will continue to partner closely with Reiss on creative, product and brand evolution;
  • Beth Clymer, President of Finance, Strategy and Administration, will add Operations to her responsibilities, following the departure this month of COO John Moran; and
  • Daniel Binder, Chief Transformation Officer, will now oversee global stores in addition to his current role.

Canada Goose earned $609.9 million (Canadian) in its Q3 for 2023, which ended Dec. 31, 2023, a 5.8% increase over the $576.7 million generated during the same period the previous year. During this period, Canada Goose opened two permanent stores — in the American Dream mall and in Kobe, Japan — and converted a temporary NYC store to permanent status, bringing its total brick-and-mortar count to 65 locations.
