Buy Online for Shopify POS, now available for iPads, gives in-store staff a no-pressure way to engage with shoppers, capture valuable contact information and connect customers directly to the retailer’s e-Commerce store.
While customers are in the store, an associate uses the tablet to help them create an online basket that they can add to while they shop. When the cart is complete, the associate sends a link to the basket directly to the customer via email.
As soon as the email is sent, a draft order is created in Shopify. Even if the shopper doesn’t complete the purchase, the retailer can use draft orders to re-engage customers with targeted promotions or an email marketing campaign, using the information collected during the face-to-face encounter. Each email can be tailored to the customer, and the email template can be customized to reflect a retailer’s brand and messaging.

Buy Online can help associates handle other situations that might crop up, especially during the busy holiday season. For example, an associate can use Buy Online as an alternate way to keep from losing a sale when checkout lines are very long or an item that is out of stock in the store is available online.
Associates who have interacted with the customer in the store get credit for the online sale, because the Buy Online link is associated with the staff member who sent it.
Pop-up stores and showrooms have become an integral part of an omnichannel strategy for Endy, an online mattress brand in Canada. “The challenge for us has been implementing the same kind of seamless, data-driven approach to our in-store checkout that customers have come to expect from us online,” said Aashish Nathwani, Marketing Director for Endy in a statement. To provide a more consistent experience in its brick-and-mortar locations, Endy has added Buy Online for Shopify POS and is leveraging Shopify’s one-touch payment.
