Tops Markets Renews With DemandTec
Tops Markets, LLC, a grocery retailer with stores in New York and Pennsylvania, has renewed its subscription to multiple DemandTec pricing and promotion software services. In addition, DemandTec announced an expansion of its patent portfolio to 30 United States and international patents, reflecting advancements in science and modeling techniques. In other DemandTec news, the company has partnered with the Labovitz School of Business & Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth to support the university’s new Retail Marketing Analytics Program (ReMAP). ReMAP will be offered as an undergraduate major and minor area of study through LSBE at UMD. ReMAP will provide undergraduate UMD students with an educational curriculum that can be directly applied to rewarding careers in the retail and consumer products industries.
MEF joins ASC X9 To Develop Mobile Commerce Advancement Standards
Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), a mobile media organization focused on mobile commerce, and ASC X9, the U.S. technical group that develops financial industry standards, announced a partnership to develop privacy and security standards for M-commerce. MEF’s M-commerce initiative is aimed at bringing brands, financial institutions, content owners/producers, carriers and retailers together to create transparency and increase consumer confidence in mobile transactions.
“Last year we worked with our membership to produce an essential Guide to M-commerce,” said Gary Schwartz, MEF North America Chair and CEO, Impact Mobile. “This second phase of our initiative will see MEF working with ASC X9’s F4 working group on Security in developing a mobile commerce standard which addresses the most pressing issues affecting its adoption.” A launch webinar will be held May 24, 2011 to explore the importance of security to the growth of M-commerce and outline the partnership details.
