The IBM Retail Users Group (IRUG) is partnering with CrowdCompass to provide a multiplatform mobile app for attendees to use during the 34th Annual IRUG Conference, May 15-18, 2011 in Orlando, Florida. The IRUG is an independent organization, owned and run by the representatives of more than 300 retail member companies.
The free app will provide conference attendees access to the conference agenda, announcements, messaging, social media, Twitter feeds, interactive maps and other content – featuring graphics and hyperlinks. “The 2011 IRUG Conference Mobile App makes effective community building and deal making easier with integrated communication and reference tools,” said Michael Sachar, President of IRUG.

During the event, IRUG will offer attendees a number of educational sessions, including two Super Sessions titled:
- Customer Connectivity and Mobile Information Management are Reshaping the Retail Industry. This session will feature a panel discussion led by Frank Riso, Senior Director Industry Solutions Group – Retail & Hospitality, Motorola Solutions, Inc. Panelists include executives from Kroger, Verizon, ARTS, Morris Advisors and CrowdCompass.
- The Store: Why it Matters and How it is Changing. This session will showcase store-level innovations from retailers around the world.
Approximately 30 Elective Sessions will cover five key topic areas:
- Architecture/Infrastructure
- Customer Service
- Customer Touch Points
- Store Operations/Solutions
- Trends/Management
The Elective Sessions will feature executives from a number of companies including: Pier 1 Imports, Hypercom, Next Retail Group, VeriFone, ARTS, Cornell-Mayo Associates, Starmount Systems, Global Bay, Honeywell, and the USDA, among others. The event also will offer a “Lunch & Learn” networking luncheon.
