Bombas Opens Third Brick-and-Mortar Store in Austin

Bombas has moved into owned physical retail quickly, opening its third new store in the space of a month at The Domain in Austin, Texas. This follows the October 2025 store openings in New York City and Town Center in Boca Raton, Fla. The retailer, known for its comfy socks, slippers and undergarments, has leveraged physical retail management platform Leap, which integrates with Shopify and utilizes premium Simon mall locations for its move into owned brick-and-mortar sites.

“Expanding into physical retail is a natural and exciting next step in bringing the Bombas brand, products and mission to more people in new ways,” said Jason LaRose, CEO of Bombas in a statement. “With Leap, Shopify and Simon, we’re able to bring the comfort, quality and sense of community our customers know online into an in-person experience that feels like a true extension of our brand.”

In an interview with Retail TouchPoints last month, LaRose shared the factors that went into Bombas’ site selection process for its first three owned retail stores: “New York City gives us access to vibrant city foot traffic; Town Center [in Boca Raton] provides a traditional mall experience, and The Domain in Austin lets us explore an outdoor retail environment,” said LaRose. “We already have strong, engaged customer bases in these areas, and these openings give us the chance to see how people experience Bombas in person across different types of shopping settings,”

Leap offers a Retail-as-a-Service (RaaS) model to act as the operational engine for brick-and-mortar retail, managing design, development, technology, staffing and daily operations. The solution is designed to reduce risk by minimizing capital expenditure and providing unified technology via the integration with Shopify. Leap is currently working on an expansion of its platform that will bring in additional merchants and a wider range of premium retail locations throughout 2026.

“We believe we’re still in the early innings of this collaboration,” said Amish Tolia, Co-founder and CEO of Leap in a statement. “With Shopify and Simon, we’ve proven that this model works, delivering growth for brands like Ring Concierge and now Bombas. As we look ahead, we see the potential for hundreds of merchants to access this program across a growing network of premium retail spaces nationwide. This is just the beginning of how we’re rewriting the playbook for physical retail.”
