The pop-up will feature On’s new LightSpray technology, a footwear manufacturing technique designed to revolutionize shoe uppers that the brand debuted during the Paris Olympics this summer. Featuring a fully automated LightSpray machine, visitors to the pop-up can have a personalized LightSpray shoe uppers created for them in three minutes. LightSpray uppers are made with a single-step process that involves spraying, rather than building, uppers, significantly reducing waste and resulting in an upper that generates 75% fewer carbon emissions than On’s other racing shoe uppers.

The first shoe to feature this technology is the Cloudboom Strike LS, an ultra-lightweight high-performance running shoe with a seamless, lace-free upper. At the New York City Marathon, On athlete Hellen Obiri will defend her championship title while wearing the Cloudboom Strike LS. The Kenyan athlete recently won the Boston Marathon and competed in the Paris Olympics, both times in her Cloudboom Strike LS shoes.

Beginning today, the Cloudboom Strike LS shoe will be available in limited quantities to members at On Labs NYC as well as at On stores in Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai and Seoul, where visitors can experience the LightSpray manufacturing process live. On Labs NYC is located at 350 W. Broadway and will be open through Nov. 4.
