Bloomingdale’s has opened the doors of its first smaller concept store — Bloomie’s. Located in Fairfax, Va., the inaugural location measures 22,000 square feet and features a curated assortment of contemporary and luxury brands for men and women that will updated several times a week.
“We are thrilled to introduce the world to Bloomie’s, and for our customers in the DMV [D.C./Maryland/Virginia] community to be the first to experience this exciting new concept,” said Tony Spring, CEO of Bloomingdale’s in a statement. “Bloomie’s is designed to be a more convenient and casual concept that fits into our customer’s everyday lifestyle.”
Bloomie’s also will feature a Returns Dropbox to facilitate returns from any channel; buy online, pick-up in-store and curbside pickup; and personalization, customization and alteration services. Additionally, the store is home to the Colada Shop restaurant, offering signature cocktails and food. [Get full details about the store’s design and services here.]
“This is a special neighborhood, illustrative of how we design places where communities routinely gather for memorable, unique experiences,” said Jodie McLean, CEO of EDENS, which operates the Mosaic District shopping and dining hub where the first Bloomie’s is located. “Consumer preferences continue to evolve, but retail’s role in bringing people together remains fundamentally unchanged. Bloomie’s is designed to engage people and will serve more as a hub for experiences, with a focus on fashion.”

In conjunction with the opening of the first Bloomie’s store, Bloomingdale’s also relaunched the Bloomie’s fashion label, which draws inspiration from Bloomingdale’s heritage. The first collection features 35 pieces including apparel, footwear and a special edition Zippo lighter. The collection is available exclusively at Bloomie’s, Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship in NYC and Bloomingdales.com. Each season going forward, Bloomie’s will launch two drops that will include limited edition collaborations.
