GameStop, Express, Saks OFF 5TH Add Installment Payment Options

GameStop, Express and Saks OFF 5TH all have deployed buy now, pay later services. GameStop is partnering with Sezzle, and Express and Saks OFF 5TH are both partnering with Klarna to offer the option to shoppers of paying for their purchases in four equal, interest-free payments.

Sezzle is currently available at GameStop’s more than 3,300 U.S. retail stores, its ecommerce site and through the GameStop mobile app. The option is aimed at shoppers who are stuck in lockdown as the latest pandemic wave increases in certain states, a situation that has increased interest in gaming media including the new PS5.

Express and Klarna are kicking off their partnership with the “Express Cheer” holiday campaign, giving those who pay with Klarna on Express.com a chance to win a gift card. Beyond this incentive, a survey by Klarna found that 79% of U.S. consumers say that mindful spending and budget-friendly strategies allow them to feel more confident in their financial future, and that the delayed payment option will give shoppers more flexibility as they browse Express’ Holiday ’20 seasonal assortment.

Saks OFF 5TH’s adoption of Klarna coincides with the launch of the retailer’s newly enhanced athleisure assortment — a category that makes up more than 90% of the top wish-listed items in the fashion category on the Klarna app. Sak’s OFF 5TH shoppers currently only have access to the payment service through ecommerce, but the retailer plans to add the Klarna option in-store in 2021.
