With monetary and collaborative support from Walgreens and AT&T, Sesame Street Workshop has debuted five videos and related assets for its Caring for Each Other initiative, which provides resources featuring familiar Sesame Street characters to help families cope emotionally with the global pandemic and support frontline workers.
Sesame Street Workshop launched the program in March as stay-at-home orders were issued, and it was expanded with assistance from Walgreens and AT&T in late April.
Supplementing its financial support, Walgreens “collaborated on content and content ideas, as Walgreens team members, including pharmacists and store teams, are considered essential workers,” a spokesperson said.
The Caring for Each Other program includes videos, apps, instructional worksheets, printable activities and online games. Several new videos and accompanying resources have been released in English and Spanish. They depict doctors, nurses, grocery store workers and mail carriers as heroes and show families how to express love while keeping a safe distance:

“Together with AT&T and Walgreens, we can help families through the different challenges and transitions they are experiencing during this pandemic — giving them the tools they need to build hope for sunnier days ahead,” said Dr. Jeanette Betancourt, SVP of U.S. Social Impact for Sesame Workshop in a statement.
“In communities across the country, our customers often look to their local Walgreens team members as a sign of comfort, whether that’s for filling a prescription or finding the perfect gift,” said Richard Ashworth, Walgreens President in a statement. “It is more important than ever in these unprecedented times that we explain to children about essential workers and their roles, while also celebrating their extraordinary care. As we look to explain this unexplainable pandemic to children nationwide, there is no better partner than our friends that live on Sesame Street.”
