What’s Driving Retail Disruption Today? Cross-Border Commerce, DTC Growth, Accelerated Innovation

Although the last decade represented a significant inflection point in retail’s evolution, the industry’s rapid changes certainly won’t be slowing down in the 2020s. For example, cross-border sourcing will account for 45% of total e-Commerce retail sales worldwide by 2024, with international trade expanding to $2 trillion.

And DTC models continue to redefine the traditional distinctions between retailers and brands: at least 40% of U.S. Internet users expect to do at least 40% of their shopping at DTC companies within the next five years. Consumer goods companies are certainly taking notice — 75% of CPG suppliers will operate a DTC platform by 2030.
