Mattress Firm has appointed Lorie Silva to its newly created position of Chief Merchandising Officer. She will be responsible for the retailer’s merchandising strategy and ecosystem for driving sales.
Silva has nearly 27 years of experience in the retail bedding industry, most recently as Director of Bedding Operations for Jordan’s Furniture, where her duties included sourcing, sales, training and managing the retail experience.
The appointment of Silva is the retailer’s second executive move in 2018, following Steve Stagner’s assumption of the CEO role March 1. The company has been under pressure from disruptors such as Casper and Leesa, which have gained popularity as shoppers became more comfortable purchasing mattresses online.
