Diane Von Furstenberg Hires First CEO

DVFFashion designer Diane von Furstenberg has hired her first CEO in an effort to help make “the spirit of the brand last,” she said in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily(WWD).

Paolo Riva, former VP of Apparel and Visual Merchandising for Tory Burch, will run the DVF business, which has experienced steady growth online over the past five years. The brand has seen online sales soar from $10 million in 2010 to more than $28 million in 2014, according to data from Top500Guide.com.

Riva will tap his experience at Tory Burch and other luxury labels — such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino — to move the DVF brand forward. He will officially take the helm on May 18, 2015. Previously, Co-Chairman Joel Horowitz led the brand.

“What is special about Diane is that she connects emotionally with women of all generations, all around the world,” Riva said. “My vision is to unlock the brand potential by offering the relevant mix of products with a unique experience for the consumer.”
