Verizon Partners With Square To Offer Mobile Payment For Small Businesses

Verizon Wireless today announced that its stores will now sell the Square Card Reader, which allows small business operators to accept credit or debit card payments with a smartphone or tablet.

The Square Card Reader runs on Android and iOS platforms and is set to sell for $9.97 in Verizon Wireless stores nationally. The unit comes with a $10 credit that can be applied to a Square account.  After purchasing a Square Reader, the user must download the Square app in order to attach a bank account to the system.

Following a sale, the retailer is able to email or text the receipt to the customer, at the customer’s discretion. Fees for the seller include 2.75% per transactions swiped and 3.5% plus 15 cents for sales that are manually keyed in.
