ThredUP Opens Brick-And-Mortar Thrift Store In Texas

ThredUP, a secondhand clothing resale retailer, is launching its first storefront in San Marcos, Texas and plans to open more stores in the near future.

The retailer will to use its online customer data from daily sales to determine trending brands to stock its stores accordingly. ThredUP’s data and influx of new inventory — consisting of more than 35,000 brands, including J.Crew, Michael Kors and lulelemon – enables the retailer to update the store on a rolling basis, regardless of season.

“We’re changing the way people think about thrift,” said James Reinhart, CEO and Co-Founder of thredUP in a blog post announcement. “In fact, 50% of our customers had never shopped ‘used’ before trying thredUP online. With 85% of apparel still bought offline, stores help us reach those who need to see it to believe it.”
