Blending Petco Health and Wellness Company’s expertise in animal care and Backcountry’s trusted position in outdoor specialty goods, the retailers have partnered on a new line of gear to help consumers travel and explore safely with their dogs. Capitalizing on the growing status of pets as core members of a consumer’s family, Backcountry x Petco features a premium collection of summer-appropriate supplies, apparel, accessories, toys and travel products to accommodate dogs of every shape and size.

The first collection includes dog T-shirts, jackets, bandanas, collars, harnesses, leashes and flotation devices. Additional products include toys aimed at promoting play and mental stimulation along with collapsible food and water bowls, foldable crates, sleeping bags and travel mats. A second line will be released for autumn.

According to a statement from Backcountry CEO Melanie Cox, “84% of Backcountry customers have dogs in the household and consider their furry friends as important members of the family. When you bring together outdoor experts and the best in pet care, you end up with a thoughtfully crafted product line for pets at the same quality we expect as humans.”

During its 2022 Investor Day held March 23, Petco outlined a number of priorities aimed at cultivating its business within the competitive $119 billion pet goods industry, including expanding partnerships in order to reach more customers through differentiated merchandise. This expansion also included a partnership with Rover.com that launched in February 2022, which provides pet sitting, boarding and dog walking services from the Petco website.
