Family-owned grocery Roche Bros. has selected Unata to build out new omnichannel shopping experiences and bolster its e-Commerce offering.
The Unata platform will be available at 18 of the grocery’s Roche Bros. and Sudbury Farms stores. The platform will offer a home delivery option at its eastern and central Massachussets locations, as well as a curbside pickup option at select locations.
The platform is designed to cater to each shopper’s individual purchasing behaviors over time, so that Roche Bros. can provide a one-to-one personalized shopping experience to customers. The solution’s features include:

-
A personalized homepage listing the most relevant products and specials based on shoppers’ purchase history;
-
Product recommendations across the online shopping experience, including related items to customers’ current shopping cart;
-
A product catalogue with relevant items for the shopper provided in each department; and
-
Sales notifications and offers on products, either purchased before or related to future buying interests.
In addition to creating a more personalized customer experience, Roche Bros. expects to enable their shoppers to organize and browse products online based on attributes such as organic, on-sale, local, gluten-free and more. Within this e-Commerce experience, shoppers can access all in-store specials, including complex promotions.
“Unata’s forward-looking leadership helps ensure that not only will our new e-Commerce platform be engaging when we launch, but also stay relevant with continued features and improvements to-come, developed with an eye towards what Unata’s customers and Roche Bros. own shoppers need for an engaging omnichannel experience,” said John Lauderbach, VP of Information Technology at Roche Bros.
Shoppers aren’t the only people that are expected to benefit from the Unata solution, with staffers gaining the capabilities to manage online orders through a new dashboard, as well as target and manage promoted content to their shoppers.
“1-to-1 personalization is something the modern shopper has come to expect,” said Unata CEO Chris Bryson. “Combined with a seamless shopper experience across all channels, it’s a guaranteed way for grocers to drive customer loyalty and cart size.”
Roche Bros. E-Commerce Operation Manager Geoff Farrington recently attended the Unata Partner Summit in Toronto, and noted that “Meeting counterparts from across North America using the Unata platform was particularly valuable at this early stage in our deployment,” he said. “The summit provided valuable insights and gave Roche Bros. the opportunity to collaborate on the future of the platform with other users.”
