Rebag has opened its first-ever standalone Rebag Bar — a micro version of its traditional store — located in New York’s Shops at Columbus Circle. The 180-square-foot Rebag Bar integrates Rebag’s signature physical store environment with a seamless, on-the-go experience, and will focus on sourcing bags, watches, fine jewelry and accessories via a convenient drop-off point.
Serving as a gateway to the brand’s ecosystem, this new compact format showcases a curated selection of luxury resale items including bags, watches, fine jewelry and accessories. Customers can purchase these items in-store, but they also have access to Rebag’s 20,000-item inventory via The Rebag Bar digital channel.
Customers can expect a tailored clienteling approach to assist them with the personalized digital shopping experience. Sellers have the option to bring their items in-store for an offer and payment in less than an hour, or they can get an instant offer online and then drop it off for payment.
“Rebag has valued brick-and-mortar expansion since we saw the success of our first store opening back in 2017, said Charles Gorra, Founder and CEO of Rebag in an interview with Retail TouchPoints. “The omnichannel strategy is well-suited to Rebag, as it allows us to bring the online experience to life; we can provide the ease of selling in-store, create a curated assortment for local clientele, and better push the sales of high-price-point items that customers want to see and feel in person.

“Our new Rebag Bar micro concept is highly flexible,” Gorra added. “It will enable a hyper-local and efficient rollout to bring back the boutique experience that our customers enjoy. This year’s goal has been to get as close to our customers as possible, and we hope that the nimbleness of this store format will help maximize convenience for customers.”
Due to the pandemic, consumers are staying in and spending less on experiences — many of those with disposable income to spend are turning to shopping for retail therapy instead. “Despite COVID-19, luxury resale has been moving steadily upward, especially at Rebag,” said Gorra. “This pandemic has accelerated the shift towards digital and further increased the attraction of the resale market.”
