RadioShack’s path back from its second bankruptcy now runs through HobbyTown, a hobby and toy retailer with more than 150 stores in 41 states. The electronics retailer first plans to bring 60 Express store-within-a-store concepts into HobbyTown locations, eventually expanding to 100 of its franchised stores nationwide. The partnership will bring RadioShack into more suburban markets.
“We are excited about the HobbyTown partnership, as it will allow us to re-engage and directly serve our core hobby and DIY communities,” says Steve Moroneso, CEO of General Wireless Operations Inc. in a statement. General Wireless is the parent company of RadioShack.
RadioShack received exit approval from its most recent bankruptcy in October 2017 after a Chapter 11 filing in March 2017. Since then, the retailer has focused on e-Commerce and has grown to more than 400 dealer locations.
