RadioShack was recently honored for a holiday social media program during the Fifth Annual Forrester Groundswell Awards. The retailer’s 2010 holiday social media program, themed “Holiday Heroes,” was designed to drive store traffic and support sales while building a community and trust for the brand in the social space. By creating a social platform, RadioShack was able to inform consumers of holiday products, suggest gifts and reward consumers as a “Holiday Hero.” As a result, RadioShack grew its social fan base and saw an increase in positive conversation and engagement. “RadioShack is committed to test, learn and embrace innovative ways to connect with consumers and this award reflects those efforts,” said Lee D. Applbaum, EVP and CMO for RadioShack, in a press release. “RadioShack’s fans and followers are so supportive of the brand, and social media gives us the opportunity to engage them directly to keep them apprised of great offers and promotions, especially during the holidays.” The online and brick-and-mortar retailer was awarded top honors in “Business-to-Consumer North America: Energizing” as RadioShack Social Media and Digital Director, Adiran D. Parker, received the award on behalf of the team.
