Amazon has extended its Prime free same-day delivery service to the Chicago and Orlando metropolitan areas, as well as new locations in New York City, northern New Jersey and Philadelphia. With the expansion, Prime same-day delivery is now available in more than 750 cities and towns and 16 markets nationwide.
Prime members can place orders of more than $35 by noon to receive a package by 9 p.m. on that same day, free of shipping charges. More than one million items on Amazon are available for same-day shipping, including popular electronics, toys, movies, video games, home and kitchen supplies and everyday essentials.
“We’re focused on making Prime better and better and every day members discover how Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery can make their lives easier,” said Greg Greeley, VP of Amazon Prime, in a statement.

Prime membership is $99 a year and includes delivery benefits plus access to streaming movies, TV shows and music.
The move comes only a week after Uber expanded its own same-day delivery service, UberRUSH, to Chicago and San Francisco. Earlier this month, Amazon introduced its own crowdsourced delivery service, Flex, which will focus on delivering packages for one-hour delivery service Prime Now.
