Sheetz Convenience Chain Upgrades Analytics Capacity With New Teradata Appliance

Family-owned and operated convenience store chain Sheetz Inc., has adopted the new Data Warehouse Appliance developed by Teradata Corporation.

“Sheetz started with a competitive system, moved to the Teradata Data Mart Appliance, and now has seamlessly implemented a data warehouse appliance – which can deliver the power and insight they need to get them everywhere they want to go. It is a big step into the world of enterprise-class data warehousing,” said Ed Dupee, VP, Retail Industry Marketing and Solutions, Teradata.

The new data warehouse appliance adoption is expected to increase data management capacity for the Sheetz chain, which has gained recognition for its award-winning food, innovative technology, and customer service. Teradata’s analytics software is designed to analyze market basket content, product affinity and merchandising for Sheetz. Among these services is the multi-touch marketing intelligence tool, Teradata Relationship Manager, which acts as a marketing management portfolio.

“The scalability of Teradata’s platform family makes this a smooth transition as our needs for complex analysis grow,” said Jim Wenner, CIO at Sheetz. “We believe the economics and performance of the new platform to be a wise investment in our own business future as well as in the advanced technology we need to support our vision.”

Delivered ready-to-run, the Teradata new appliance is a fully-integrated platform designed for data warehousing. The Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance features the Teradata Database, a platform with quad core Intel processors, SUSE Linux operating system, and enterprise class storage – all designed to be preinstalled into a power-efficient unit.
