Macy’s Partners With Target Evolution to Sell Teen Entrepreneurs’ Products at Texas Off-Mall Store

Macy’s is launching a retail concept aimed at entrepreneurs in the 12-to-19 age group in partnership with Target Evolution, a Texas-based nonprofit created to fight youth unemployment. The companies will initially open a Trail Blaze Shop in the Market by Macy’s in Flower Mound, Texas as well as launching related two-day popup experiences that will offer teens a chance to sell their products inside Macy’s stores.

The latest Trail Blaze Shop offers teens a chance to earn money by selling their own goods while also learning about entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Target Evolution already operates its own retail stores in Houston and Dallas and is working with Macy’s to further expand its reach. The retailers aim to open stores in 10 cities within the next two years.

“We are proud to partner with such an incredible organization as Target Evolution,” said Loren Payne, Store Manager for Market by Macy’s at the Highlands in Flower Mound in a statement. “Their impactful work plays a vital role in supporting and enriching our local community and beyond.”

Target Evolution was founded in 2011 to provide solutions to the common problem of youth unemployment. The organization offers inspiration and professional help to help ensure they are capable of running their own businesses. It also offers opportunities for youth to work and sell products while nourishing their entrepreneurship skills.

The Market by Macy’s concept launched in 2020 as a smaller off-mall concept to help the retailer offset the decline of its larger traditional stores. The shops are approximately 15,000 to 20,000 square feet, which is one-tenth the size of a typical Macy’s, and they carry a small, curated selection of items. This sets them up to serve as proving grounds for the products created by Target Evolution’s teen entrepreneurs.
