Former Shipt CTO David Berk has joined Fetch Rewards in the same role. Berk, who joined Shipt one year before the company was acquired by Target in December 2017, acquired engineering and operations experience at companies such as Apple and Topsy Labs, a social search and analytics company Apple acquired in 2013 for more than $200 million. Berk left Shipt in May 2019.
“David has deep expertise in scaling technology platforms and he will be a great asset to Fetch as we look to engage with our ever-expanding user base,” said Wes Schroll, Founder and CEO of Fetch Rewards in a statement. Fetch Rewards, which works with brands to provide rewards points to shoppers when they scan their receipts, closed $25 million in funding last fall to accelerate the growth of its user base and drive product development with new hires, according to Xconomy.
From January through April 2020, users of the Fetch Rewards app scanned more than 130 million receipts and accumulated more than $21 million in savings, according to the company.
