Best Buy Multichannel Retail President Leaving The Company

Shari Ballard, EVP and President of Multichannel Retail at Best Buy, will leave her position on Aug. 3, 2018, according to TWICE. The company does not have plans to replace her and instead will distribute Ballard’s former responsibilities among other executives. The parting appears to be amicable on both sides.

Ballard is responsible for overseeing the company’s U.S. stores, e-Commerce, Best Buy Mexico and real estate strategy. She joined Best Buy in 1993 as an assistant store manager before moving up to the role of EVP of Retail Channel Management in 2007. In 2010, she was appointed co-President of Americas alongside Mike Vitelli, then was named President of International in 2012. Ballard then served as both U.S. Retail President and Chief Human Resources Officer beginning in 2014.

“I’m not leaving because I’m going somewhere else (I’m not) or because I believe any less in our mission (I don’t). I’m leaving because it’s time for me to explore the post Best Buy version of me and to grow and learn in new ways,” wrote Ballard in an email acquired by the StarTribune. “There is a season to everything, and given the strength of this team and the strength of the company, the timing is right for my journey here to end.”
