Walmart has opened the application process for its eighth annual Open Call, inviting entrepreneurs to submit their products for a chance to appear on Walmart’s store shelves and website. Open Call will support the company’s commitment to spending an estimated $350 billion on items made, grown or assembled in the U.S.
Opportunities for this year’s Open Call attendees range from promoting products in a handful of local market stores to supplying products to thousands of Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. The retailer is teaming up with RangeMe to streamline the submissions, which offer applicants a chance to pitch their products live to Walmart merchants in one-on-one virtual meetings on June 30.
Selected participants also will have the opportunity to hear from Walmart executives and participate in smaller breakout sessions throughout the day to learn about valuable topics and resources.
“Open Call is like watching the American Dream play out in real time,” said Laura Phillips, SVP for Global Sourcing and U.S. Manufacturing at Walmart in a statement. “You see on full display the spirit and energy of new ideas and the hope of what could be — founded on creativity, hard work and self-belief.”
