Tesco To Complete Chain-Wide Rollout Of Checkpoint EAS Solution

Tesco has targeted improved on-shelf product availability, reduced shrinkage and an enhanced consumer shopping experience with a chain-wide, global Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) system from Checkpoint Systems. The agreement calls for the provider ― which supplies RF-based EAS, merchandise visibility and apparel labeling solutions for the retail industry and related supply chains ― to extend the partial Tesco EAS rollout, completed in 1,250 locations, to the U.K.-based retailer’s worldwide chain of 5,000 stores. Checkpoint Systems will fast-track the EAS solution to more than 900 of the retailer’s large-format Extra, Superstore and Metro stores, replacing the existing acoustic-magnetic technology.

The Checkpoint RF antennas provide energy savings of up to 75% over existing competitive solutions, according to a company press release, which will help Tesco reduce its operational costs and carbon footprint.
