Sears Holdings has upgraded its big data analytic capabilities with the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse Platform 6690, a new hybrid storage-based platform designed for expanded configuration flexibility and balance of both solid state and hard disk drives, and offers faster time to market. Sears also added the Teradata Active Data Warehouse Private Cloud with Elastic Performance on Demand, for on-demand business analytics. This capability is designed for more flexible, economic data-crunching during surges in business activity, such as those occurring during holiday shopping.
The new platforms “will help Sears lead customer based innovation through integrated retail and support our membership program, Shop Your Way Rewards,” said Oliver Ratzesberger, VP of Information Analytics and Innovation at Sears Holdings, in a Teradata press release. “By combining previously separated databases and data marts onto a single virtualized big data platform we eliminate the need to maintain multiple copies and data feeds, thereby reducing time to market as well as TCO.”
