SAP today announced plans to acquire hybris, an e-Commerce technology provider. As a result, SAP will be able to deliver the e-Commerce platform to retailers with an option of on-premise or cloud deployment.
With the acquisition, SAP will be able to provide enterprises with the enhanced data and tools necessary to optimize margins and customer loyalty, according to an SAP press release. In addition, the combination of SAP enterprise solutions and hybris technology is expected to provide retailers with a complete suite of omnichannel business solutions.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2013, and will be subjected to regulatory approval and other closing conditions. Once the acquisition is finalized, hybris will operate as an independent business unit within SAP, and will retain its existing management team led by Ariel Lüdi, CEO of hybris, and Carsten Thoma, President and Co-Founder.
