By rewarding organizations that its associates volunteer for and selling kid-friendly items to support children’s health programs nationwide, Kohl’s raised a total of $51 million in 2015 through its Kohl’s Cares philanthropic platform.
The largest donations include $19 million raised through Kohl’s Cares cause merchandise, which sells children’s books and toys for $5 each with 100% of the net profit going to charity. Another $16 million was raised in corporate grants through the volunteer program, which involves Kohl’s associates dedicating their time to youth-serving nonprofits in communities across the country. Associates accumulated approximately 500,000 hours last year, benefiting more than 7,700 nonprofit organizations through Associates in Action.
“Kohl’s takes pride in being a responsible, charitable member of the communities we serve,” said Jen Johnson, VP of Communications at Kohl’s, in a statement. “Our associates have the ability to positively impact the nonprofits they are passionate about through our world-class volunteer program and our customers can join our efforts and make a difference by supporting our cause merchandise program, which directly benefits children’s health initiatives nationwide.”
