John Lewis & Partners to Deploy 3D Tool for Virtual Appointments

U.K. retailer John Lewis & Partners is rolling out 3D visualization for its Home Design appointments, both in-store and online, to help customers better understand what products will look like in their homes. The retailer’s Home Design stylists will use the technology, developed by Marxent, to showcase their interior design work to customers and allow them to visualize items within the physical layout and specific size of their spaces.

Customers attending either an in-store or virtual appointment will be able to re-create their rooms digitally — with the same room dimensions, doors and windows — in a realistic 2D or 3D image. The designs will showcase John Lewis products and will feature the ability to change the color of the walls and floors to create a complete look.

After the appointment, customers will be emailed a floor plan, a 3D visualization of the space with shoppable links, and at least one photograph-like 3D rendering that captures the virtual space from a specific perspective.

John Lewis & Partners operates 42 shops and one outlet across the U.K. as well as online at johnlewis.com.
