Alipay and Verifone are extending their existing partnership to allow Chinese consumers to use their Alipay Mobile Wallet within taxis in New York and Las Vegas.
By the end of October 2017, 2,100 taxis in Las Vegas will accept Alipay upon checkout. An additional 14,000 taxis in New York City will accept Alipay in November this year.
Alipay, the payment platform owned by Chinese e-Commerce giant Alibaba, has taken various efforts to expand its services within the U.S. in 2017. The platform recently partnered with Rebecca Minkoff to integrate the Alipay Mobile Wallet into its stores and e-Commerce site. Additionally, Alipay has integrated local content and reviews from Yelp into its mobile lifestyle app, specifically for users traveling in New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

With a Verifone mobile POS, retailers can accept Alipay anywhere in the store and implement marketing campaigns targeting Chinese consumers who use the Alipay app.
