Deliv Acquires Chicago-Based Delivery Startup WeDeliver

Deliv has acquired fellow same-day delivery service WeDeliver to expand its footprint in the on-demand delivery space. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

As a result of the transaction, the WeDeliver brand will discontinue as the company’s merchants and delivery specialists transition to the Deliv platform, according to a report from The Chicago Tribune. WeDeliver also will discontinue its mobile app, Locally, which enabled local business to sell goods online and offer same-day delivery. The parties have yet to decide whether the rest of WeDeliver’s nine full-time employees will move to Deliv, based in Menlo Park, Calif.

More than 250 U.S. retailers, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Williams-Sonoma and Foot Locker, as well as the six largest mall operators in the country, are Deliv partners. The company has experienced an 800% organic increase in volume from the first six months of 2014 to the same period in 2015.

Launched in early 2013, WeDeliver provides same-day delivery services to more than 100 merchants in the Chicago area. The company has partnered with a variety of local businesses such as Trunk Club, Barneys New York and Plum Market.

Deliv currently operates in eight markets, including Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Northern New Jersey, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

“We are impressed with Deliv’s strategy and leadership position across the nation’s top retailers,” said Jimmy Odom, Founder and CEO of WeDeliver. “During a time when same-day delivery has quickly become the new customer standard, we’re excited to continue our journey and partner with such an exciting and fun team.”
