As the 2023/2024 season tips off, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has opened its second U.S. flagship store in Houston with the help of sports apparel and collectibles retailer Lids and its majority owner Fanatics. Lids will oversee operations at the NBA Store Houston, just as it does for the sports league’s other flagship in New York City, which opened in 2015.

“The NBA has a vibrant fan base in Houston, and we are thrilled to bring the NBA Store to their doorstep,” said Lisa Piken Koper, Head of Apparel and Sporting Goods at the NBA in a statement. “Through a wide range of merchandise and interactive activations, we will deepen our ties to the Houston basketball community and find unique ways to engage our fans through a truly immersive retail experience.”

The new 7,500-square-foot Houston store features a broad range of official NBA and WNBA merchandise and memorabilia, including jerseys, apparel, headwear, sporting goods, toys and collectibles from brands such as Nike, Mitchell & Ness, New Era and Wilson. The store also features a customization area — a signature feature in most Lids retail stores — where fans can personalize NBA jerseys and hats for all 30 NBA teams. Rounding out the store experience are interactive window displays and a “center court” that will highlight special product collections and serve as an event space.

The NBA currently has more than 400 branded retail stores and attractions around the world, including a third flagship in London that is also operated by Lids.

“As we continue to expand our successful partnership with the NBA, opening an official NBA Store in Houston was a seamless fit,” said Bob Durda, President of Lids in a statement. “Houston is an important sports market and we look forward to continuing to build a first-class shopping experience for local fans and visitors alike.”
