Holiday 2021: Shoppers Plan to Spend More Overall but are Still Seeking Value

Holiday Gift Giving Insights Infographic

Most shoppers expect to spend more on gifts this year than in 2020, but this year’s holiday shoppers are doing things a bit differently than in years past. The most successful brands this season will be those that capitalize on new shopper expectations and behaviors such as:

  • Deals reign supreme: Shoppers’ number-one priority (58%) is getting good value for their money, followed by product quality and range of choice;
  • Seeking personalization: “Unique gifts for” searches on Google Images are up worldwide by 100% YoY;
  • Using new channels for inspiration: 46% of Gen Zers get gift ideas from social media; and
  • Shifting timelines: 41% of gift givers  say they plan to have their shopping finished before December.
