Most shoppers expect to spend more on gifts this year than in 2020, but this year’s holiday shoppers are doing things a bit differently than in years past. The most successful brands this season will be those that capitalize on new shopper expectations and behaviors such as:
- Deals reign supreme: Shoppers’ number-one priority (58%) is getting good value for their money, followed by product quality and range of choice;
- Seeking personalization: “Unique gifts for” searches on Google Images are up worldwide by 100% YoY;
- Using new channels for inspiration: 46% of Gen Zers get gift ideas from social media; and
- Shifting timelines: 41% of gift givers say they plan to have their shopping finished before December.
