eBay Tops List of Ecommerce Apps that Require Personal Info from Shoppers

eBay is the “nosiest” ecommerce platform, mandating that customers provide 21 required personal data segments. It’s also the only ecommerce app to require access to a user’s contact list, on top of requiring relatively uncommon permissions such as browsing history, search history and purchase history.

Shopify required the second-most number of personal data segments at 18, followed by WordPress at 14. The two platforms that required the least personal data were IONOS and ShipStation, Mobile, which each require two segments. Bitrix24 also has a low count at just four.

Learn more about which ecommerce websites and apps collect the most and least data in this infographic from OnDeck.
